How Virtual Chemist works?
Virtual Chemist works with part manufactures and end users to formulate customized materials based on their application.
Each material goes through three layers of suppliers before getting to the hands of part manufacturers.
First layer are suppliers that synthesis or extract materials. For instance, BASF or Lubrizol synthesize TPU, Trinseo or Sabic make ABS, Imerys and Omya extract mineral and more.
Second layer are materials convertors that modify these materials for specific application. For instance, compounding polymers to tailor its properties, grinding for rotomolding, or extruding to sheet, rod and filaments.
And third later is resellers and distributors where you can access lower quantity of materials from them.
Although all these layers could work with customers on tailored formulation, they generally require having specific volume and only their offering technology, which limits end-users and part manufacturers with limited options.
